The examination takes place on four occasions: three mandatory seminars where you are examined orally in a group, and a final individual written assignment.

After the course

The course is included as an elective course in the Master's (120 credits) programme Literature – Culture – Media. It is also offered as a freestanding course and can be included in a first or second cycle degree.

There are no tuition fees for citizens of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.

The course is for you who want to understand the picture book as a medium and its role in society. You will gain knowledge about important theories about the picture book and learn about its development in the Western world and globally. The course gives you tools to analyse the interaction between image and text, and to interpret picture books from cultural, historical and media perspectives. You will also practice formulating your own questions about both older and contemporary picture books.
