Gain a basic understanding of probability theory and statistical theory. Learn how to use mathematical methods to analyze and draw conclusions from data, and develop an understanding of how statistics are applied in science and society.
During the course, you will learn about fundamental concepts such as probability, independence, distributions, expected value, and variance. You will also gain knowledge of various statistical methods and how to use them to analyze data. The course can be part of a Bachelor’s program in mathematics or natural sciences, but it can also be taken as a standalone course.
The studies consist of lectures, exercises, and laboratory sessions. Lectures provide theoretical knowledge, while exercises and labs give you practical experience. Laboratory sessions are mandatory, and lab reports are part of the assessment.
The examination consists of written and oral exams at the end of the course. To pass, you must complete the exams and participate in all mandatory components.
