This course provides advanced knowledge in linear and logistic regression – two key methods in statistical modeling. You will learn to analyze both continuous and discrete data, understand various estimation techniques, and interpret relationships between variables. The course can be taken as an elective course or as a stand-alone course.
You will learn how to construct statistical models for real-world problems, interpret the results, and assess the reliability of the models. The course also teaches you how to use statistical software and how to present your analyses both in writing and orally. You will develop your ability to critically evaluate statistical methods and reflect on their limitations. The course is taught in English.
Teaching includes lectures, exercises, computer labs, and project work. Participation in labs and projects is mandatory and gives you hands-on experience in analyzing regression data using statistical software. For example, you will work with identifying outliers, interpreting residuals, and testing different regression models.
Assessment is both written and oral. You will complete projects where you analyze real problems, write reports, and present your conclusions. You will also take part in peer review of other students’ work. The course concludes with an oral exam. To pass, you must participate in all mandatory components and successfully complete both the projects and the exam.
