The course offers an opportunity to understand the complex functions of the brain and how it underlies cognitive processes. By combining theory and practical applications, you will gain insights into how the brain processes information, regulates emotions and controls behaviour. The course covers topics such as basic neurobiology, memory and learning, emotions, and sleep and consciousness.
You will learn to critically examine brain-related information and apply neuroscientific principles in your professional role. This is especially valuable in a world where scientific advances are rapidly changing the way we understand human behavior and decision-making. The course gives you in-depth knowledge and practical skills that are applicable in working life.
Choose this course if you want to develop your ability to understand and talk about the brain in an evidence-based way and understand the neuroscientific foundations behind our behavior. With an emphasis on critical thinking and scientific understanding, this course is ideal for future leaders who want to stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly complex and changing world.
Course literature
The course literature listed may be updated up to eight weeks before the course begins.
Course literature VMFB34 (PDF, New tab)The course combines inspiring lectures on brain functions and methods with interactive elements that require you as a student to be well prepared. You are expected to act professionally and contribute constructively to the working group in order to achieve progress together. To develop your skills and train your critical thinking, you will work with a popular science text about the brain and compare it with published scientific articles.
After completing the course, you will have knowledge of brain structure and functions as well as the ability to critically review brain-related information from various sources. This knowledge is valuable for understanding human behavior and making informed decisions in complex situations.
The course gives you a good foundation for further studies in neuroscience, psychology or leadership. Further studies can also open doors to research opportunities where you can help develop new insights about the brain and its impact on human behavior. By continuing your academic journey, you can become part of the exciting developments in neuroscience and its applications in society.
