Outline

The programme structure is flexible, allowing you to tailor your education to your interests. During the first year of the Master's programme, you will take two compulsory courses: Quantum Physics in Research and Society (FYSN21) and Quantum Mechanics (FYSN27).

In addition to these courses, each specialisation within the programme has its own list of alternative-compulsory courses. During the first year, you will choose three courses from the list for your specialisation.

During the second year, you will take the remaining compulsory courses within your specialisation, along with elective courses. You will also complete your degree project, which can be either 30 credits (FYSM34) or 60 credits (FYSM64).

Your choice of degree project affects which optional courses you can choose. If you do the 60-credit thesis, you are free to choose courses of any subject. If you do the 30-credit thesis instead, you must ensure that your courses within the programme together comprise at least 90 credits in advanced-level physics.
