The course is given online with the support of the web-based learning platform Canvas. The course runs throughout the term at half speed, which corresponds to approximately 20 hours of study per week, divided between regular teacher-led seminars on Zoom and self-study. You need to have access to a computer with an internet connection, webcam and headset throughout the course period.

The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, image and film screenings, and individual supervision. The course includes 8–10 compulsory seminars and 2–4 compulsory assignments. The course is examined through two home exams.

The course consists of two modules:

  1. Russian Symbolism (1892–1910), 7.5 credits
  2. Russian Futurism (1910–1928), 7.5 credits

The course is in English but can be taught in Swedish if an agreement is reached between the teacher and the students. Such an agreement would depend on both the lecturer and the students having a good knowledge of Swedish.

The course can be included in a general degree at advanced level.

During the autumn semester, you can take the course Russian: Advanced Russian Literary Studies, 15 credits. The course is also offered as a distance learning course at advanced level.
