You’ll get an introduction to fundamental statistical methods. You’ll learn key concepts such as confidence intervals, hypothesis testing and p-values. We’ll cover different regression models – simple linear, multiple linear and logistic – as well as analysis of variance (ANOVA) and how to choose the right statistical model.

You’ll also gain insight into how statistical analyses are applied in practice and the ethical considerations involved in data collection and analysis.

Teaching combines lectures, problem-solving sessions and computer labs. Lectures and exercises give you the theoretical foundation, while labs focus on using statistical software to solve tasks.

You’ll also work on a group project, which you present both in writing and orally at a seminar. Throughout the course, you’ll practise calculating confidence intervals and p-values, constructing hypotheses and building regression models. You’ll also learn how to present your results clearly.

Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be able to interpret and evaluate statistical analyses and choose the right method for different problems. You’ll have both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are valuable in many careers – such as research, data analysis, economics and social sciences. The course also provides a solid foundation for further studies in statistics and advanced analytical methods.
