Statistics: Thesis

In this course, you’ll write a thesis – either on a broad topic or a specific question you want to explore. You choose your focus. Using your previous knowledge of statistics, you’ll practise working independently to solve a problem.

Course syllabus

The syllabus contains the formal and legal details of the entire course. It’s a legal document outlining the course structure and requirements, intended mainly for administrative use.

You’ll write your thesis on your own or with a fellow student. A supervisor will support you throughout the process. In addition to writing your thesis, you’ll:

• present your work at a seminar,
• take part in discussions on other students’ theses, and
• act as an opponent and give feedback on another thesis.

If you’ve completed all the required courses, you can now apply for a Master’s degree in Statistics (60 credits).

Prerequisites

90 ECTS in statistics in first cycle, including courses corresponding to STAH11 Statistics: Special Assignment/B.A. Essay (15 ECTS) and STAH12 Statistics: Probability and Inference Theory (7,5 ECTS), and further 15 ECTS in statistics at advanced level.
