During the course, you will:
• explore key elements of Swedish grammar and pronunciation
• practise writing clear texts on different topics
• read and talk about Swedish literature
• learn more about current issues and debates in Swedish society
• build your vocabulary and improve your confidence in conversations
You will also work on understanding information and expressing it clearly in Swedish. Throughout the course, you will receive guidance to help you see what you need to develop further.
Course literature
The course literature listed may be updated up to eight weeks before the course begins.
Course literature SVEH14 (PDF, New tab)The course is offered fully online and uses a digital learning platform and other online tools. There are scheduled real-time sessions, so you will need a computer with a webcam and a stable internet connection. Technical requirements will be provided before the course starts.
The teaching includes:
• grammar and pronunciation sessions
• exercises to help you understand different types of texts
• conversation practice, discussions, and short presentations
• writing tasks that help you develop a clearer and richer language
At the end of the course, you complete two digital exams via Zoom:
• Written exam (5.5 credits) – monitored live via webcam
• Oral exam (2 credits) – where you demonstrate your ability to understand and reproduce simple factual information and give a short prepared presentation
The monitoring is done in real time only. Nothing is recorded. The purpose is to ensure that the exams are completed without external help.
After completing the course, you will have a solid foundation in Swedish and be able to express yourself more clearly in both speech and writing. This strengthens your opportunities in further studies, work, and everyday communication.
The course can also be an important step toward higher-level Swedish courses or other programmes that require good Swedish language skills.
