Ukrainian: Beginners' Course II

This course aims to develop your language skills while also deepening your understanding of Ukrainian society and everyday life. The course is built around simplified Ukrainian texts and dialogues that help you expand your vocabulary and strengthen your basic grammar.

You will work with communicative tasks and simple writing exercises based on everyday situations, giving you practical opportunities to use Ukrainian as you learn. Ukrainian pronunciation and speaking skills are practiced through listening, pronunciation, and conversation exercises.

Course syllabus

The syllabus contains the formal and legal details of the entire course. It’s a legal document outlining the course structure and requirements, intended mainly for administrative use.

Course literature

The course literature listed may be updated up to eight weeks before the course begins.

The course is taught in English online via Zoom and Canvas. It runs at 50% pace, which corresponds to 20 hours per week, divided between teacher-led instruction and independent study.

The teaching includes lectures and lessons on Zoom, in the afternoon, along with practical exercises and 4-6 mandatory written assignments.

The course consists of two modules:

1. Ukrainian: Beginners' Course 2A, 7.5 credits
2. Ukrainian: Beginners' Course 2B, 7.5 credits

The assessment includes two written home exams on Canvas and two oral exams on Zoom.

This course can, for example, be included as an elective in a bachelor’s degree with a language focus.

After completing the course, you will be eligible to continue with Ukrainian Grammar and Language Proficiency I.

Knowledge corresponding to UKRB01 Ukrainian: Beginners' Course I, 15 ECTS

Selection criteria

Seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at the application deadline (up to 165): 32 %.

Citizens of countries outside:

are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each
semester.
