Strategic collaboration agreements

We enter into long-term agreements with key partners. Together, we work to achieve common goals. This enables us to create value and make a difference in many areas of society.

Strategic collaboration agreements are formal agreements between the University and external stakeholders. These agreements exist at both university and faculty level.

University-wide agreements

Our strategic collaboration agreements at university level are partnerships between Lund University and selected stakeholders. These partnerships cover many areas, including:

  • sustainability
  • innovation
  • urban development
  • public health
  • regional attractiveness
  • student life.

The agreements are reviewed regularly.

The City of Helsingborg and Lund University are working together to strengthen the city's development and the University's expansion at Campus Helsingborg.

Through the partnership and together with industry and the region, we want to improve our position and attractiveness. The agreement was signed in 2020.

The City of Lund and Lund University are working together to make Lund a vibrant, leading and attractive centre for knowledge.

The parties cooperate in areas such as

  • industry and innovation
  • urban development
  • cultural organisations and museums

and how to further improve the student experience.

The aim of the partnership is to create a city where residents, students and businesses can thrive and develop, while contributing to a sustainable future. The agreement was signed in 2019.

Lund University and the City of Malmö work together to support the advancement of research-based knowledge, and the development of Lund University and the City of Malmö

We focus on areas such as

  • sustainable urban development
  • public health
  • culture
  • entrepreneurship
  • student life
  • cooperation in the Öresund region.

The aim of the partnership is to create a dynamic and forward-looking environment for innovation and knowledge in the region. The agreement was signed in 2023.

Lund University has a decades-long collaboration with Ericsson, a global leader in information and communication technology (ICT).

The pioneering research at the University in 5G and 6G, for example, has been a central part of the mutual exchange between the two partners. 

The exchange of knowledge has contributed to new research areas, relevance in education and innovations.

The collaboration agreement signed with Ericsson in 2016 was the first ever signed by Lund University at a university level.

SAAB and Lund University have a long history of cooperation, especially within combustion technology and materials science.

In 2018, the two parties entered into a strategic collaboration agreement in order to create better opportunities to develop research, education and innovations. This applies to the following areas in specific:

  • automatic control
  • electromagnetic field theory
  • data science
  • energy sciences
  • structural mechanics.

Lund University and Tetra Pak have a well-established collaboration that has been running for several years in many areas. This includes student exchanges in the form of projects and degree projects.

A strategic collaboration agreement was signed in 2020, focusing on areas such as the circular and biobased economy and digitalisation.

The aim of the partnership is to work together to strengthen the region's attractiveness. Another objective is to drive innovation for sustainable products and societies.
