If you choose to live in Malmö or Helsingborg, there are regular trains and buses making it is easy to commute to Lund, as well as to get around within the cities.
How to find housing
To find somewhere to live in Lund, Malmö or Helsingborg most international students apply through LU Accommodation or use an accommodation agency. LU Accommodation is a part of Student Services at Lund University and offers housing to international students. Other accommodation agencies include the Student Unions' housing service BoPoolen.nu and AF Bostäder. Students also find housing through the student nations. Although LU Accommodation and other accommodation agencies will do their best to help you, it is ultimately your own responsibility to find housing, unless you have a housing guarantee, see below.
Finding housing in a university city can be difficult, especially when you are coming from far away and are unfamiliar with the housing market and accommodation services at your new study destination. Therefore, Lund University offers a housing guarantee to certain international student groups. If you are a student with a housing guarantee, we will provide a place for you to live through LU Accommodation.
Most students find housing in shared apartments, studio flats or corridor rooms in or around the cities of Lund, Malmö or Helsingborg. Lund University does not own or run any dorms or other types of student accommodation. Accommodation offered by LU Accommodation is rented from other landlords and then offered to students. If you are renting a room from LU Accommodation, the most common form of student accommodation is a corridor rum.
The accommodation costs vary depending on where you live and what type of housing you are renting. If you are renting a room from LU Accommodation the rent is currently set at between SEK 14 000 and SEK 23 000 for the full semester. This includes electricity, water, heating and use of kitchen and laundry facilities. In addition to your rent, you will also have to pay a fixed deposit to LU Accommodation when you accept your housing contract prior to your arrival and it will be refunded after you have moved out.
