LU access card
What is the LU card?
Lund University students have to have an LU card in order to have access to university premises.
The LU card has several functions:
- ID card within Lund University
- access card for all buildings you need for your studies
- borrowing card for all the university libraries
The functions on your card will depend on where you study. In some places, the card is also used for printing out and registering attendance.
Getting a LU card
You can obtain an LU card from one of several card stations around the University. Don’t forget to take photo ID with you! For example an ID-card or passport.
You will recieve your card on the spot, but in order to use it, you will also need a code. We will email you the code either the same day or the day after you receive your card.
If you forget the code to your LU card
If you lose your LU card
Notify lukortet [at] lu.se that you have lost your card and it will be cancelled.
When you finish your studies
When you finish your studies, you are no longer authorised in the access system. This means that no unauthorised person will be able to use your card. However, as the card also can be used as an identity document, you must return it at the end of your studies. Hand in your card at one of the University’s card stations, or at another location that your department refers you to.
Other student cards
Please note that the LU card is not a student discount card.
Studentlund and Studentkortet (the student discount card)
When you join Studentlund, you get ’Studentkortet’ that functions both as an ID-card/membership card (when you attend student events at the student unions and nations) and as a student discount card. The card (+ your regular ID card) gives you access to discounts at certain cafés, restaurants and on travels as well as services and products in shops and online.
