All international students are recommended to arrive in Lund on the official Arrival Day, which is approximately two weeks before the start of the semester.
- Autumn 2017 Arrival Day: 15 August 2017, AF Building, 09:00-20:00
- Spring 2018 Arrival Day: 9 January 2018
Please note that if you arrive later than the Arrival Day open hours and have a confirmed room from LU Accommodation, you most likely will need to collect your keys the next day and organise other accommodation for your first night.
Arriving in Lund
During Arrival Day, international mentors will meet you at Copenhagen airport and help show you how to buy your train ticket over to Lund. For autumn 2017 Arrival Day, we will be at Copenhagen Airport from 07:30 until 19:30.
Mentors will also meet you at the railway station in Lund. You will recognise the international mentors by their light blue t-shirts with the Lund University logo. For autumn 2017 Arrival Day, we will be at the train station from 08:30 until 19:45.
From the Lund train station you can take the free minivan shuttle service to the Arrival Day venue (this is a short trip, around 10 minutes drive). Arrival Day services are open at 09:00 until 20:00.
Check-in at Lund University
When you arrive at Arrival Day, please leave your luggage in the luggage room and go to the check-in desk.
Be sure to bring your admission letter (notification of results) or your Letter of Acceptance (exchange students) and your passport. At the Arrival Day check-in you will receive a welcome package with useful information about Lund University and student life as well as the schedule for the Orientation/Introduction programme.
If you arrive after Arrival Day, you are welcome to visit the International Desk (located on the ground floor of the building at Stora Algatan 4) to check-in and get your welcome package, during their opening hours.
Please note that in order to enrol into your programme and courses at Lund University, you need to attend the introduction meeting of your programme or course which usually takes place in the beginning of the semester.
Students who have confirmed housing through LU Accommodation will meet representatives from LU Accommodation to check-in and get their keys.
Other services on Arrival Day
Tickets for all orientation week activities will be on sale during Arrival Day. You will also have the opportunity to buy pillows and blankets for your new student housing as well as some other basic home furnishing products.
If you have any questions or need additional help during Arrival Day, you are welcome to visit the Information Centre located by the check-in desk. At the Information Centre you can get help with maps, questions about your student account/student email, printing etc. You are also always welcome to ask for help from Lund University mentors and staff available during Arrival Day.
As we welcome hundreds of international students on Arrival Day, there may sometimes be long waiting times and queues. We ask for your understanding and patience. While you are waiting, you are welcome to ask questions to the international mentors who are present all day and happy to help you.
We look forward to seeing you on Arrival Day! If you have any questions regarding the arrangements on Arrival Day, please contact the International Desk.
What happens after Arrival Day?
On the evening of Arrival Day there is an Arrival Day "meet-up" event for students who are keen to join in a social event and meet other students on their first night. For students who have had a very long trip and a day with lots of new impressions, we suggest that you go home and rest ahead of the start of the introduction weeks and the range of exciting activities ahead of you.

"Bring something that reminds you of home and keep in touch with your family, who can help you if you get homesick. Invest time in making new friends and exploring the local culture and customs. But don’t forget why you came here – to learn from and contribute to Lund University."
