Lund University is now an affiliate partner of Climate-KIC, the large European network which drives climate innovation projects through creative partnerships between the private, public and academic sectors.

”We see great opportunities for both researchers and students at Lund University. Climate-KIC is an important arena for delivering concrete solutions to the climate challenge”, says Torbjörn von Schantz, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University.

Susanne Pedersen, Director of Climate-KIC Nordic, is pleased to welcome Lund University as a new partner:

”Not only is Lund University one of the oldest and biggest academic institutions in the region, but we also see this new partnership as a great opportunity for strengthening our collaboration across country borders in the vibrant Øresund region with Copenhagen, a Climate-KIC partner, as its capital. The Øresund region hosts almost four million inhabitants and it is famous for its climate-ambitious profile. We believe there are a wealth of openings for collaboration in our growing Nordic network between a strong academic partner like Lund University, cities and corporates”.

In addition to participation in research and innovation projects, the partnership will also bring new opportunities for students at Lund University.

Ten students from Lund University will participate in this year's Climate-KIC Summer School "The Journey", where students from all over the world have the opportunity to develop sustainable entrepreneurship skills during a five-week working trip in Europe. In August, Lund University will host a part of "The Journey", and welcome 45 European students to Sweden for two weeks.

Climate-KIC brings together over 230 universities, companies, cities and other stakeholders in Europe with the common goal of finding solutions to the climate challenge. The partnerships within the Climate-KIC integrate research, business and technology to create innovative ideas for new products, services and jobs. Climate-KIC Nordic is one of thirteen Climate-KIC centers in Europe and it is hosted by DTU, Technical University of Denmark. Read more about the Climate-KIC
