Apply for your degree certificate

When you have completed your studies at Lund University you can apply for your degree certificate.

Degree certificate

The degree certificate is issued upon your request by the Degree Office once your studies are completed. The degree certificate is a document written in both Swedish and English. It shows the title of your degree (e.g. Bachelor of Science) and your major field as well as all the courses included. An appendix called the Diploma Supplement, is also enclosed.

Important things to check before you apply:

Before you apply, please check that your contact details (including your personal number and home address) are correct and updated in Ladok.

Updating your personal information in Ladok

Bachelor's or Master's degree certificate (first and second cycle)

  • Only courses that are completed can be included in your degree. Please make sure they are reported correctly in Ladok.
  • If you apply for a Master's degree and your Bachelor's degree has not been shown and accepted during the admission process, then we need to see the original to confirm the requirements for your Master's degree.
  • Your certificate will be sent to the address you write on your application. If you change your adress after you have applied, please contact us at email examen [at] stu.lu.se as soon as possible.

Licentiate or Doctoral degree certificate (third cycle)

  • Please make sure that 'all courses for licentiate/doctoral degree passed' have been reported in Ladok before you send in your application.
  • Include in your application a copy of the cover of the thesis/dissertation where the title is shown. If the title is not in English please enclose an English translation.
  • If you wish to have the courses translated to English, this is something you should arrange with your supervisor before you send in your application form.

How to apply for a degree certificate

Bachelor's or Master's degree certificate (first and second cycle)

Most students can apply for their Bachelor's or Master's degree certificate online, through through the Student Portal (log in to the Student Portal with your Stil ID and follow the instructions). However, there are a few exceptions:

  • If you have studied at the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine or at the Malmö Art Academy, you can turn directly to your faculty officers to request degree certificate. 
  • If you want to apply for a law or teaching degree certificate, you must fill in and submit an application form to the Degree Office, together with any accompanying documents. (Information on required accompanying documents is found in the respective application forms).

Licentiate or Doctoral degree certificate (third cycle)

To apply for a Licentiate or Doctoral degree certificate, fill in the application form below and submit it to the Degree Office, together with any accompanying documents. (Information on required accompanying documents is found in the respective application forms). If you apply for a third cycle law degree, you can turn directly to your faculty office.
