Summary, in English

The occurrences of the Romanian interjection "via" in the two published corpora of spoken Romanian (CORV and IV) are analysed using conversation analysis methods and notions from pragmatics and cognitive linguistics. The chapter focuses on the sequential distribution of the interjection, and includes an analysis of the collocations and syntactic relationships that "via" can bear, as well as an analysis of the interjection "via" as a mental space shifter and an illocutionary force modifier. The study shows that "vai" can function as an affective and attitudinal marker, instructing the hearer as to the interpretative key of the propositional context indexed by the interjection in the discursive or situational context. At the information management level, the interjection is found to play an important role in signaling various types of shifts: in the participation framework, mental spaces, stance, from objective to subjective discourse etc.
