The Master of Science in Strategic Communication equips you with concepts and skills to successfully operate and work strategically with communication in all types of organisations in a global context. You will gain an understanding of strategic communication and the closely related fields of organisational communication, public relations and brand communication.
This programme stands out in several ways compared to other similar programmes:
- Holistic Approach: This programme emphasises a holistic approach to communication from an interdisciplinary perspective, that includes the management, planning and implementation of communication processes in relation to different stakeholders. It focuses on private, public and non-profit organisations as well broader societal perspectives.
- Elective Flexibility: You have the option to choose elective courses, an internship course, or exchange studies at an international university. This provides you with the flexibility to tailor your education to your interests and career goals.
- International Opportunities: Lund University has strong international connections, allowing you to apply for exchange studies at partner universities worldwide as well as taking part in global networks. This exposure is a significant advantage for you who are planning to work in international environments.
The programme develops both a theoretical and practical understanding of strategic communication. Research and education are closely linked as all teachers are educated to a PhD level and are actively engaged in research.
The programme includes lectures, seminars, and hands-on projects. Group assignments and presentations are a common way of learning in this programme, allowing you to develop supplementary skills such as teamworking, which are attractive on the job market.
Working in international classes with fellow students from all over the world, you acquire cross-cultural competence and build networks important for a strategic communication professional.
Opportunities to collaborate with industry are offered through close connections with leading practitioners, for example through guest lectures and case studies. In the third semester, you can tailor your studies with elective courses, internships, or an exchange semester.
The programme gives you a solid theoretical knowledge, applied research methods, as well as skills pertaining to a range of current areas and challenges.
Campus Helsingborg: a modern study environment close to the sea
Campus Helsingborg is located in central Helsingborg, just a few minutes from the train station and the sea. The campus area is located in a former factory building from 1891, which once belonged to Tretorn. The building has retained its industrial character, which has been integrated with modern premises adapted for lectures, group work, and a quiet study environment.
On campus, you will find a library, plenty of study spaces, and several places to have lunch or a coffee break. The building has several student kitchens where you can heat up your lunch box and eat together with others. The building also houses study and career guidance services and other student support functions.
Campus Helsingborg is part of Lund University but has its own campus life and its own student unions and associations. Different faculties and programs come together under one roof here. You will have close contact with both teachers and fellow students, while also being close to city life in Helsingborg.
