Do you want to understand how climate change affects health—and what we can do about it? This course provides a clear introduction to the connection between climate and public health, with knowledge relevant to healthcare, urban planning, environmental policy, and global development.
You will gain insight into:
- The science behind climate change: causes, measurement methods, and effects.
- The health effects of climate change: how extreme weather, air pollution, and food safety affect physical and mental health.
- Climate change and disease: the spread of vector- and water-borne diseases and links to heart and lung disease.
- Adaptation and mitigation strategies: international initiatives and local solutions to reduce risks.

Course literature VMFB39 (PDF, New tab)This is an online course divided into four modules. Each module includes recorded lectures, readings, discussion forums and multiple-choice exams. You can progress at your own pace, unlocking each module after completing the previous one.

Selection criteria
Priority is given to applicants who have applied before deadline and are registered to a course or a programme at Lunds University the semester before this course starts. After that seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at application deadline (up to 165): 32 %. If students have equal credentials, seats are allocated based on their results on The Swedish National University Aptitude Test. If this too is equal, seats are allocated based on a draw.

Citizens of countries outside:
- The European Union (EU)

- Switzerland
are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each
semester.
