Description

Basically all projects within the research group emanates from an interest in the interaction between pathogenic microorganisms and the human host. We are using an array of different methods to study this interaction on a molecular, cellular, tissue, and organism level. The co-evolution between microorganisms and the human host has lead to a vast array of interactions influencing the outcomes of infection. These interactions can be exploited for the development of novel antimicrobials, anti-inflammatory drugs, and biotechnological tools. We have primarily been studying Gram-positive bacteria, both aerobic and anaerobic, but we also have an interest in parasites and bacteriophages (viruses infecting bacteria).
