The course addresses general geographic issues within environmental and societal contexts through practical GIS applications, covering both Swedish and international conditions at various scales, from local to regional. It provides a foundational understanding of spatial representation and analysis. You will explore general geographic issues in society and the environment and learn how GIS can address them.
Topics include basic cartography, such as projections and geographical reference systems, digital geographic data (maps, images, and tables), basic analysis of data in vector and raster formats, and presentation of geographic data in map format at regional and local scales. The course also covers databases and attribute data handling. By the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation in working with digital geographic data and GIS. you will be equipped with the skills needed to analyze and manage spatial information effectively.
This online course is designed for flexible learning, allowing you to study at your own pace. You can choose to complete the course at either a full-time (100%) or part-time (50%) study rate.
Prerequisites
General requirements and studies equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary School courses English 6/English level 2
Selection criteria
Seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at application deadline (up to 165): 32 %. If students have equal credentials, seats are allocated based on their results on The Swedish National University Aptitude Test. If this too is equal, seats are allocated based on a draw.

Citizens of countries outside:

are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each
semester.
