The Economic History specialisation provides deep insights into how societies evolve economically and socially. You will combine tools from economics and social sciences with historical perspectives to analyse growth, stagnation, crises, and resource distribution. The specialisation trains you in both qualitative and quantitative methods, including econometrics and database analysis, and develops your ability to frame research questions and communicate findings effectively. Core courses cover global economic development, living standards, and institutional change, complemented by electives and advanced tutorials. Lund University hosts one of the world’s largest Economic History departments, offering a vibrant research environment where all teachers are active scholars. This specialisation prepares you for analytical roles in business, government, and academia, and provides a strong foundation for doctoral studies.
