In a rapidly changing global market, companies must continuously adapt their logistics and supply chain strategies to remain competitive. This programme provides you with the mindset, resources, and skills to build a successful career in global logistics and supply chain management.
You will learn how organisations and supply chains can enhance efficiency and effectiveness by improving the physical flow of materials, as well as information and financial flows. The programme covers key areas such as supply management, purchasing, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
A multidisciplinary approach ensures that you develop a comprehensive understanding of logistics design, planning, and management. Sustainability is integrated into every course, with a particular focus on the circular economy and its role in building cleaner, fairer, and more efficient supply chains.
The programme is offered by LTH, Lunds Tekniska Högskola (The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University). It is taught by internationally acclaimed researchers, providing you with a solid foundation in both quantitative and qualitative problem-solving techniques.
Throughout the programme, you will apply these skills through case studies, project work, business games, and simulations, ensuring that your learning is both practical and industry relevant.
Success in logistics and supply chain management requires an analytical mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions. The programme equips you with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, ensuring that you can develop fact-based recommendations for complex supply chain challenges.
Through guest lectures, company visits, and real-world assignments, you will gain valuable insights and industry exposure. You will explore core areas such as logistics operations, warehousing and materials handling, industrial purchasing, supply chain analytics, and international physical distribution. The programme also covers operations management and research methodologies, giving you the tools to analyse and optimise logistics systems.
Sustainability is a key focus, with one course dedicated to sustainable and circular supply chain management, emphasising the importance of minimising waste and improving efficiency. During the programme, you will develop skills in project management, strategic decision-making, and supply chain optimisation, preparing you to lead and make improvements in the field.
In the lastl semester, you will undertake a master's thesis project, often in collaboration with a company. The project allows you to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting, strengthening your practical skills and professional network.
The demand for well-educated logistics and supply chain professionals is increasing across industries. Graduates from the programme will have the ability to solve functionally oriented problems and work across organisational boundaries. Companies in manufacturing, retail, transportation, and logistics services are actively seeking specialists in supply chain management, logistics, operations development, and procurement.
Graduates have diverse career opportunities, ranging from strategic sourcing and packaging development to inventory and international distribution management. Many find employment in manufacturing companies, trade and retail firms, logistics service providers, and management consultancies, as well as in humanitarian organisations worldwide.
A recent survey revealed that alumni of this programme quickly found employment, with many securing positions at companies such as IKEA, Sandvik, Tetra Pak, Alfa Laval, and Axis Communications.
