How to apply

Please review all tabs below carefully to find out what you need to do to make a complete and correct application for studies at Lund University.

Follow the guide below to understand the application process and make sure you complete all steps before the deadline.

Lund University uses a national application system run by University Admissions in Sweden (universityadmissions.se). Applications can only be submitted during the official application periods.

When to apply for Bachelor’s and Master’s studies

1. Check the entry requirements

Now that you have found a programme you are interested in, carefully review the entry requirements on the programme overview page before starting your application.

2. Create an account and submit your application

  • Create an account at University Admissions in Sweden
  • Select the programme(s) you wish to apply for.
  • Rank your programme choices in order of preference.
  • Submit your application before the application deadline.

3. Submit your supporting documents

Submit all required documents before the deadline. Depending on your educational background and country-specific requirements, you may need to upload documents online or arrange for official documents to be sent.

Be sure to check whether your application requires both general and programme-specific documents.

4. Pay the application fee

Applicants from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland are generally required to pay an application fee. If you are not required to pay the fee, you must submit proof of your exemption.

Documents to submit 

Prepare the following documents: 

  • official transcripts and degree certificate or proof that you are in the final year of your Bachelor's
  • passport/ID card (all applicants) and 
  • proof of English language proficiency (all applicants). 

If you've completed your Bachelor's in Sweden 

If you have completed your entire Bachelor's programme in Sweden and all of your academic credits are listed in Ladok, you don't need to submit transcripts or your diploma when applying for a Master's programme. 

Check if you need to submit any programme-specific documents (listed in the next tab).

Upload or send all required general documents to University Admissions before the document deadline.

Application fee and exemptions

As part of your application, you must pay the application fee – or provide proof of exemption – before the application fee deadline. 

Note that your application will not be processed until you have paid the application fee or provided proof of exemption. Make sure you do this as early as possible.

The application fee for non-EU/EEA citizens is SEK 900. You pay one application fee regardless of how many programmes (or courses) you apply for. 

There is no application fee for citizens of:

  • the European Union (EU) 
  • the European Economic Area (EEA) and  
  • Switzerland.
