The discipline of design is firmly embedded into cultural frameworks. Today, almost any issue can become the subject of design processes. Through in-depth studies within artistic, sociological and technological contexts and theories, this master's programme broadens your creative and intellectual perspectives.

You build on previously acquired knowledge to plan, visualise and implement concepts and strategies for new products and services.

As a designer, you will be responsible for conceiving of and ultimately making systems work. By organising exhibitions and taking part in seminars and workshops, you communicate your work, participate in the public debate and contribute to advancing the field of design at large.

Lund University School of Industrial Design (LUSID) is organised within LTH, Lunds Tekniska Högskola (The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University) and offers an academic journey from undergraduate to PhD. LUSID offers a creative environment coupled with well-equipped facilities. The combination of being part of a full faculty university and engaging with external stakeholders supports cross-disciplinary approaches and professional interaction.

The programme includes design projects in each semester, combined with courses in areas such as aesthetics, digital tools, production, management, research methods and design theory.

You participate in studio work, seminars, workshops and exhibitions. From the beginning of the programme, you are encouraged to communicate your work and take part in public debate.

Study trips and exhibitions form a natural part of the programme. The first semester includes a mandatory four-day introduction tour. Later in the programme, other optional study trips and activities are available.

As a future designer, you will be a key agent in ethical systemic transformations. Your work will contribute to the advancement of long-term sustainable development.

The programme strengthens the knowledge and tools you need for interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership and managing complex tasks and situations. As a graduate, you may work at global companies, or pursue careers in entrepreneurship, academia or the public sector.

Applicants to the Master's Programme in Industrial Design are required to submit a digital portfolio, including an application summary, statement of purpose and CV.
