Welcome to join a world-class university dedicated to understanding, explaining, and improving our world and the human condition. Lund University is consistently ranked among the world’s leading universities.

Founded in 1666, it is a world-class institution renowned for academic excellence, global engagement, sustainability, and graduate employability.

With four campuses, nine faculties, and 46,000 students, we offer an exceptional environment for scholarly development.

Lund University upholds the core values of the European academic community, as outlined in the Magna Charta Universitatum, emphasising autonomy and academic freedom.

In an uncertain world where free research and education are under significant pressure, Lund University aims to attract outstanding researchers and create creative environments, built by the best international minds.

Vice-Chancellor Erik Renström

Lund University Programme for Global Excellence

The Lund University Programme for Global Excellence focuses on world-leading research in strategically prioritised areas and reflects Lund University’s long-term commitment to shaping global research.

The programme includes two appointment tracks: Assistant professor positions (biträdande universitetslektorer, BUL) awarded annually, and Visiting Professorships offered every other year.

In its current cycle, the programme covers Assistant professor appointments in 2025–2027 and Visiting Professor appointments in 2025 and 2027.

Global Research Fellows 2026

This part of the programme focuses on recruiting leading international researchers at an early stage of their careers

Lund University will announce more positions within the programme in 2026.

The 2026 call will focus on strategic priority areas identified by Lund University’s faculties, as well as on sustainability – an area in which Lund University is ranked as the world’s leading institution.

In addition, positions will be announced within the Strategic Research Areas funded by the Swedish Research Council in 2026.

We hope to see some of the Fellows we recruit apply to the Swedish Research Council’s forthcoming national career support initiative.
