Programme structure
Outline
The structure of the programme is flexible, giving you the opportunity to shape your studies according to your own interests. In your degree, you may include up to 30 credits of completely free choice courses. This means that you can take courses in biology or other subjects or carry out smaller projects or internships within molecular biology. Alternatively, this also allows you to undertake an extended degree project of 45 or 60 credits.
Below you can see all the compulsory and elective courses offered within the programme. The course list does not always provide a complete picture of which semester you will take a specific course. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact the programme’s study counsellor.

In the first semester of your master’s programme, you don’t have to apply for courses yourself. We will ask you which courses you prefer. For the second semester, you must apply for courses yourself at the official website for application to higher education studies in Sweden (universityadmissions.se). You will be informed about this well in advance.
Normally there are no admissions after the admission’s results are published.
Our master’s programmes are very popular, and it is difficult to get a place. We only take about 15 students per programme each year, and we usually have several hundreds of applicants to each programme. The selection criteria are based primarily on your grades awarded for previous academic courses and your motivation letter. Try to write a motivation letter that stands out but keep it short!
