KIC – Knowledge and Innovation Communities
Lund University actively participates in several KIC collaborations initiated by the EU to strengthen Europe's innovation capacity.
Here, academia, industry and public actors collaborate to create solutions to global challenges and contribute to economic growth in Europe. The work is driven by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an EU body that promotes innovation.
KIC collaborations
Lund University is part of the following KIC collaborations:
EIT Climate is an EU initiative for education, research and innovation in the field of climate change. The initiative focuses on three key areas with great potential for creating a climate-neutral and resilient Europe:
- cities
- land use
- manufacturing industry.
At Lund University, Climate-KIC@lu is a platform where research, learning and collaboration come together to promote activities that lead to sustainable innovations.
EIT Food is an EU initiative for education, research and innovation in the food sector. It covers all challenges in the food chain, but focuses on three areas:
- a healthier life through food
- a zero-emission food system
- a fair and resilient food system.
EIT Culture and Creativity is an EU initiative for cultural and creative industries. It focuses on five priority areas:
- architecture
- fashion
- design and visual arts
- audiovisual media and games
- cultural heritage.
ekip (European Culture and Creativity Innovation Policy Platform) is an EU-funded platform for innovation in culture and creativity.
The platform has been granted €6 million by the European Commission for the period 2023–2026. The aim is to develop policy recommendations that strengthen innovation in the cultural and creative industries.
ekip is linked to EIT Culture & Creativity and brings together 17 European partner organisations. Coordination is carried out by Lund University.
