VPN – virtual private network

VPN allows you to access the university network securely from anywhere. You need VPN to access certain services that require you to be connected via Lund University's network.

When you use VPN, your device receives a university IP address, making it appear as if you are connected directly on campus.

Rules for using the university network

Access to the university’s network is a privilege. If you misuse the service, you may be suspended from using the data network, temporarily or permanently.

Internet access in student housing

If you live with LU Accommodation or AF Bostäder

Internet is included in the rent. You can connect your computer using an ethernet cable directly to a wall socket.

If you live in private housing or with a student nation

Internet access can vary depending on your accommodation. Contact your landlord or student nation to find out what applies where you live.

Mobile broadband

If you do not have a fixed internet connection at home, mobile broadband is an alternative. It is often included in mobile phone subscriptions and is available from all major Swedish mobile operators.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Contract lengths and terms can vary.
  • Some providers offer free modems with your subscription.
  • We recommend comparing different providers to find the option that best suits your needs.

You can find more information on the websites of mobile service providers or by visiting a local store.
