Why did you choose Lund University?

"I was drawn to Lund University because of the variety of courses and interdisciplinary approach in both my Bachelor's in Development Studies and Master's in Global Studies. I aimed for and have gained a broad understanding of political science through my studies at Lund University. Additionally, the vibrant student life makes the experience even more rewarding. Lund’s beauty as a city adds to its appeal, making it an ideal place to study."

What do you think of your programme so far? Does it meet your expectations?

"Absolutely! The programme has been everything I hoped for – challenging, engaging, and full of insightful discussions! Coming from a BSc with an interdisciplinary approach, adapting to the MSc in Global Studies was smooth since it follows a similar structure. So far, it has met my expectations, offering a diverse and engaging learning experience. I’m excited for what’s ahead and eager to gain even more knowledge and skills."

What is the best thing about your programme?

"The best thing about my programme is the diverse backgrounds of my classmates, which make discussions engaging and insightful, as everyone brings a unique perspective. Additionally, the professors I’ve had so far have been kind, understanding, and excellent at explaining complex concepts. I believe this has greatly enhanced both the programme and my learning experience."

What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?

"I personally enjoy the Swedish teaching style, which is highly independent and encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning. With a strong emphasis on self-directed work, it’s up to each individual to complete assignments and attend mandatory sessions. This approach promotes independence, critical thinking, and self-discipline."

How international is your programme?

"The programme is highly international. While my BSc in Development Studies was also an international programme, there was a larger group of Swedish students in my cohort. In contrast, the MSc in Global Studies is much more diverse, with around 75–80% of students coming from international backgrounds. I’ve also noticed that almost all of my professors are international. Additionally, much of our focus in class is on international issues, with discussions covering both the Global North and Global South."

Why should prospective students choose this programme?

"If you're passionate about global issues and social sciences, this programme is a great fit for you. It offers plenty of opportunities to share your own ideas and perspectives through seminars and essays, and the supportive staff are always ready to help."

What do you do in your spare time?

"In my spare time, I'm active in student life through the student organisations UPF Lund, working out, spending time with friends, and reading books."

What have been the highlights of your first year in Lund?

"Meeting new people from around the world with new and exciting ideas and perspectives!"

Do you have any advice for students that are considering coming to Lund?

"Stay true to yourself and always stay happy. Lund is a city where a lot of things (studies, events, and more) are happening at the same time, but always remember to take a break when you need it and stay on top of the readings."
