The programme provides a thorough and practice-oriented education in the constitutional foundations and specialised dimensions of economic law within the European Union. It is designed for law graduates seeking to deepen their expertise or redirect their career focus.

Delivered in English over one or two years, the programme combines compulsory and elective courses. Students gain a thorough understanding of the EU’s legal framework, including its constitutional foundations, internal market, and competition law, as well as specialised areas of current interest such as intellectual property law, AI and big data, financial law, and trade law. Graduates are well equipped to navigate and influence legal processes within and beyond the European Union.

Sustainability is integrated throughout the curriculum, enabling students to address pressing environmental and societal challenges in legal contexts. Practical skills in litigation, negotiation, and legal writing are emphasised to ensure readiness for professional practice.

Through a wide selection of electives, including participation in the European Law Moot Court Competition, students can tailor their studies to specific areas of interest, enhancing career prospects. The programme also includes independent research, fostering critical thinking and preparing students for doctoral studies or roles requiring advanced legal analysis.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars, and workshops, with focus on problem-solving, oral presentations, and negotiation exercises. Students are encouraged to engage critically with legal issues and collaborate across disciplines. The teaching staff includes experts in European legal research as well as practitioners from across the globe.

Student performance is assessed through oral and written examinations, individual and group assignments, and a master thesis. Faculty members provide supervision for essay and thesis writing, supporting academic development and skills in the practical application of law.

The programme offers a dynamic, research-informed environment with strong links to ongoing research at the faculty and elsewhere. Students benefit from cross-disciplinary collaboration and are encouraged to engage actively with peers and staff in academic and professional contexts.

Graduates of the programme are well prepared for a wide range of legal careers within the European Union and beyond.

Graduates are equipped with both general and specialised knowledge of EU law, as well as sustainability and litigation skills that are highly transferable across sectors. The programme’s flexibility enables students to develop a tailored academic and professional profile.

Career paths are diverse and international. Many graduates pursue roles in private legal practice, particularly within law firms specialising in EU law, competition, or cross-border transactions. Others build careers within EU and national institutions or public administration, such as ministries, government agencies, and international organisations, working in policy-making, legal advisory, or regulatory roles. Graduates are also well placed to join corporate legal departments, advising multinational companies on compliance, trade, and sustainability matters.

Some graduates specialise in legal consultancy, focusing on areas such as the EU internal market, state aid, or environmental law. For those interested in academia, the programme provides an excellent foundation for doctoral studies and careers in legal research.

Upon completion, graduates become part of a large and active alumni network that fosters professional connections and lifelong engagement across Europe and globally.
