Frequently asked questions
The general track allows you to customize your degree by choosing from a range of courses in areas like microbiology, neurobiology, immunology, and biochemistry. You design your own study plan with help from a study counsellor. Specialized tracks have more structured curricula and focus on specific career paths or research areas.
Absolutely. You will do your thesis project (30-60 credits) in a research group or company. If you choose a shorter thesis, you can e.g. do a second project or an internship. We highly recommend doing an internship which may provide valuable professional contacts.
The programme has a high amount of scheduled time, especially in labs. The extensive practical training enables you to develop strong laboratory skills, which are well recognized and valued by employers. The curriculum also emphasizes e.g. group work, scientific writing and critical thinking, key transferable skills that are highly useful in many professional contexts.
In the first semester of your master’s programme, you don’t have to apply for courses yourself. We will ask you which courses you prefer. For the second semester, you must apply for courses yourself at the official website for application to higher education studies in Sweden (universityadmissions.se). You will be informed about this well in advance.
Normally there are no admissions after the admission’s results are published.
