This course explores both theoretical and practical aspects of geographical databases, including their design, implementation, and usage. you will start with general database terminologies like DBMS, SQL, and ACID, before diving into the steps for designing and implementing a database. These steps include requirement analysis, conceptual modeling, internal modeling, and physical implementation.

The lectures cover the theory behind relational databases (SQL, normal forms, etc.), object-oriented databases (object classes, inheritance, etc.), and the storage of geographical data in databases. you will also tackle practical issues, such as storing geographical data in files versus databases.
