In this course, you will learn how ICT can support evaluation and innovation of sustainability in organisations. You will also discuss sustainability from a Green IT perspective, focusing on the manufacturing, use, and disposal of IT-related products such as computers, servers, printers, monitors, and network solutions. By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of how Green IT is a sustainability issue that both companies and individuals need to address.
The teaching includes lectures, seminars, hands-on workshops and inspiring guest lectures.
Through a combination of individual and group assignments, you will apply theories, models, and technologies to solve real-world problems in business and society.
By the end of this course, you will be able to validate total cost of ownership of the IT infrastructure, understand how companies can increase IT efficiency to lower their carbon footprints and discuss IT’s role in sustainability programmes.
Prerequisites
Completed courses corresponding to SYSA21 Informatics: Introduction to Information Systems, 30 ECTS credits, SYSB13 Information Systems: IS and Business Development, 30 ECTS credits, SYSK16 Informatics: Bachelor Degree Project (Thesis), 15 ECTS credits and in addition 15 ECTS credits in Informatics/Information Systems at Bachelor level. English course 6/B.
