During your internship, you will handle real communication tasks with guidance from a workplace supervisor. You will also create a portfolio showcasing your work, which can support your future job applications.
You will complete a full-time internship at a company or organization for at least 16 weeks. After that, you will spend 4 weeks working on academic assignments. In total, the period is 20 weeks.
You are responsible for finding your own internship before the course starts.
Recommended placements
- PR agencies, communication consultancies (including financial relations, lobbying or public affairs consultancies)
- corporate communication departments or functional equivalents in private enterprises, NGOs, public administration, political parties, etc.
Not accepted placements
- in companies with less than 3 employees
- students cannot be self-employed instead of doing the internship and they should not be employed by a close relative.
Course content
- Internship during which communication-related work must be performed.
- Literature review
- Report on evaluating the internship host's communication practices from a strategic communication point of view
- Creating a portfolio comprising of tasks performed during the internship.

- Apply communication theory in real situations
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in an organisation’s communication
- Suggest improvements to communication strategies
- Reflect on your own learning and develop your professional skills
This course gives you real-world experience that employers value. You will get a chance to build a portfolio, grow your network, and gain confidence in your communication skills, all of which will help you take the next step in your career.
Prerequisites
For admission to the course, the student must have completed course requirements of at least 150 credits of which 90 credits in Strategic Communication or equivalent. A good command of English language both spoken and written, equivalent to English 6/B (advanced) proficiency in the Swedish secondary system, is required. Equivalence assessments will be made according to national guidelines. Foreign students are exempted from the basic university eligibility requirement of commanding the Swedish language.

Seats are allocated according to: ECTS (HPAV): 100 %.

are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each
semester.
