Centre for preparedness and resilience

Security threats and risks in today's society are increasingly difficult to predict and can change rapidly. Our researchers meet society's growing need for preparedness and risk analyses.

The Centre for Preparedness and Resilience is a collaboration on total defence issues between seven of the university's nine faculties.

Research and education in total defence

The Centre at Campus Helsingborg aims to strengthen education, research and collaboration in total defence and preparedness on a broad front. There are six doctoral positions in defence research and two master's programmes specialising in civil preparedness and security policy.

Areas of use

In collaboration with civil society, researchers build knowledge and develop new solutions that drive development in a range of areas.

Crises, disasters, and conflicts put healthcare logistics to the test. Researchers will investigate how drones can quickly deliver vital supplies to hard-to-reach places. The focus will be on trauma care, where a rapid response is often crucial to survival. The goal is to make healthcare more resilient in the face of the unexpected.

How can we use history to prepare the next generation for future crises? Researchers are investigating how educators can leverage historical experiences to educate children and young adults about crisis preparedness and civil defense. One important aspect is highlighting the challenges surrounding the rights and roles of children in crisis situations.

The project explores how targeted and inclusive communication can increase citizen engagement and resilience against threats to democracy. With a particular focus on young adults and gender issues, the researchers want to understand how different groups in society can be reached in a meaningful way. The goal is to develop communication strategies that strengthen trust in total defense and encourage widespread support for democratic values, even among those who traditionally feel excluded from defense discussions.
