Next steps for accepted exchange students
Preparing for your exchange
Once you have received your Letter of Acceptance you can start preparing to come to Lund University as an exchange student. Remember that the person that sends your Letter of Acceptance is your coordinator and key contact at Lund University.
If you are coming to Lund through the Erasmus+ exchange programme, you need to create an Online Learning Agreement (OLA) in your home university's exchange application system. This should preferably be done after you have received confirmation of your courses in SoleMove and should reflect your confirmed courses. The course admission process is usually finished around mid-to-late May or November, depending on the semester. After your home university has approved your OLA, it will be reviewed and digitally signed by the responsible contact at Lund University. Therefore, it is important that you refer to the right 'academic responsible contact at receiving institution' (Lund University) in your OLA. Otherwise, it may get rejected at first, and sent back to you for edits.

If you come from a non-EU/EEA country, you will need to apply for a residence permit. For this, you will need your Letter of Acceptance.
The pre-arrival guide for international students provides detailed information to help you prepare for your stay in Lund. It also contains the answers to most of the questions we receive! Please take the time to read it and follow the other practical steps that are explained in the guide.
We encourage you to plan to arrive in Lund on Arrival Day to have a smooth welcome and support services readily available to make your arrival as straightforward as possible.
Starting your exchange studies
Once you arrive at Lund University, you follow the orientation schedule, which includes attending the mandatory registration day to meet with your coordinator.
Lund University does not have an ”add/drop period”. If you wish to change a course, you must discuss this with your coordinator at Lund University as soon as possible after arrival. However, please note that it can be difficult to change courses. Our ability to change your courses depends on whether you meet admission requirements and if there are still places available on the course.
During your studies
If you have any problems during your exchange (illness, study worries, serious housing issues, other questions or concerns), please contact your coordinator for help.
On our website, you can also find useful information about services available to current students, such as academic support, student health.
Extending your exchange
If you would like to extend your exchange and have another semester at Lund University, you need to talk to your home university first. They will get in touch with your coordinator at Lund University to see whether there are opportunities for a continued exchange, based on the balance of exchange students between the two universities.
Transcripts from Lund University
You do not need to request a transcript. At the end of your exchange, transcripts from the courses studied at Lund University are sent automatically to your home university's coordinator. If you require a “certificate of attendance” your coordinator at LU can help you with this document as well as a copy of your “learning agreement”.
Farewell reception and becoming a Lund University Ambassador
Near the end of each semester, Lund University hosts a farewell event for international students.
An information event is also held near the end of each semester to support students in their new role as a Lund University Ambassador once they return to their home university.
Having completed your studies, you are now a valued alumna/alumnus of Lund University!
Be sure to register in our alumni network so we can continue to keep in touch.
