Lund University art collection

The University’s art collection is composed of paintings, sculptures, drawings and engravings. It contains works from the 15th century to the present day, with an emphasis on Swedish 19th and 20th century art. Dutch 15th century art is also well represented and the collection also includes high-quality modern Chinese art.

The extensive collection of drawings and engravings comprises around 1 500 works and spans six centuries. It includes works by masters such as Martin Schongauer, Albrecht Dürer and Rembrandt van Rijn.

The collection is primarily available for research and academic teaching, but parts of it have been displayed to the public at various times, including at Kulturen in Lund.

A number of the most important works of art in the collection are on permanent display in Gamla Biskopshuset in Lund.
