FAQ – email account

If you experience problems with your email account, please read the questions below before contacting the support

If you have lost or forgotten your student account password you can order a new one by contacting Servicedesk.

You can forward your emails by logging in to your Student email account and chose >> Settings >> Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Choose 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to…' and type the address you want it forwarded to.

Go to your student email account

You can import contacts from Outlook, Hotmail and Yahoo! accounts to your student email account.

You can collect emails from up to 5 different accounts. Note: the email accounts you want to collect emails from need to support POP access. Login to your student email account and click on 'Settings' and then on 'Accounts'. At 'Get mail from other accounts' you click on the link 'Add a mail account you own'.

To receive your email by using an email client in either your computer or your phone, please follow the instructions below.

Use this link: https://passport.lu.se/ to change your password. When doing so your new password will be registered with Google. This is necessary to ensure that the service will work as intended.

Settings for your e-mail client:

Incoming e-mail (IMAP)
Server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Security setting: SSL
Username: the same as your student account username followed by @student.lu.se.
Example: abc09xyz [at] student [dot] lu [dot] se
Password: The same password as your StiL account.

Incoming e-mail (POP)
Server: pop.gmail.com
Port: 995
Security setting: SSL
Username: the same as your student account username followed by @student.lu.se.
Example: abc09xyz [at] student [dot] lu [dot] se
Password: The same password as your student account.

Outgoing e-mail (SMTP)
Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Use secure connection: SSL
Username: the same as your student account username followed by @student.lu.se.
Example: abc09xyz [at] student [dot] lu [dot] se
Password: The same password as your StiL account.

When you are no longer a student at Lund University your student account will be terminated and your student email as well. Accounts are terminated 12 months after you stop being an active student. Before the termination you will receive an email with information and instructions on what to do if you think you are still entitled to have a student account.

Lund University has judged that Google protects its users' information in a satisfactory way. In the agreement between the University and Google it states that the information that is in emails and documents on the mail server is not to be used by Google.
