FAQs about student email

If you are experiencing problems with your email account, please read the questions and answers below before contacting support.

If you're studying a Bachelor's or Master's programme that you have applied for via universityadmissions.se

Visit passport.lu.se and log in through universityadmissions.se to change your password

If you're an exchange student or a student on a programme that you haven't applied for via universityadmissions.se (for example a joint programme or a double degree programme)

You can get a one-time passcode by presenting a valid ID at one of the following locations:

  • International Desk
  • School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), reception
  • Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL), reception
  • Faculty of Engineering (LTH), reception
  • Campus Helsingborg, reception
  • Malmö Academy of Music, reception
  • Juridicum, reception.

Visit passport.lu.se and use your one time passcode to log in and change your password

You can forward your email by logging in to your student email account and selecting Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP

Select 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to…' and enter the address you wish to forward to.

Once you have approved the forwarding, go back to your student account and enable it under Forwarding at POP/IMAP. Don't forget to save your changes at the bottom of the page.

Go to your student email account

You can collect emails from up to 5 different accounts. Note: the email accounts you want to collect emails from need to support POP access. Login to your student email account and click on 'Settings' and then on 'Accounts'. At 'Get mail from other accounts' you click on the link 'Add a mail account you own'.

You will need to enable IMAP for your student email in order to retrieve email via IMAP.

You can do this under 'Settings' in your student email.

Incoming email (IMAP)

Server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Security setting: SSL
Username: the same as the username associated with your student account, followed by @student.lu.se.
Example: abc09xyz [at] student [dot] lu [dot] se (abc09xyz[at]student[dot]lu[dot]se)
Password: The password is the same as for your student account.

Incoming email (POP)

Server: pop.gmail.com
Port: 995
Security setting: SSL
Username: the same as the username associated with your student account, followed by @student.lu.se.
Example: abc09xyz [at] student [dot] lu [dot] se (abc09xyz[at]student[dot]lu[dot]se)
Password: The password is the same as for your student account.

Outgoing email (SMTP)

Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Use secure connection: SSL
Username: the same as the username associated with your student account, followed by @student.lu.se.
Example: abc09xyz [at] student [dot] lu [dot] se (abc09xyz[at]student[dot]lu[dot]se)
Password: The password is the same as for your student account.

If you are no longer a student at Lund University, your student account and student email will be cancelled. Accounts will be cancelled 12 months after you cease to be an active student. You will receive an email 30 days before the cancellation with information and instructions on what to do if you think you are still entitled to a student account.

Lund University has judged that Google protects its users' information in a satisfactory way. In the agreement between the University and Google it states that the information that is in emails and documents on the mail server is not to be used by Google.
