Crafoord Foundation travel grant

About the grant

Students at Lund University can apply for a travel grant from the Crafoord Foundation for a stay abroad, within or outside the EU. As of spring 2018, the grant is administered by Lund University.

Available grants

Brief mobility: 3–7 weeks

The grant of SEK 12,500 for mobility abroad over 3–7 weeks is available for the purposes of:

  • data collection for degree projects, papers or projects
  • internships, clinical training and work placements
  • summer courses
  • exchange studies

NB: The activity must be completed and the final report submitted by 15 June 2019.

Extended mobility: 8 weeks or more

The grant of SEK 25,000 for mobility abroad over 8 weeks or more is available for the purposes of:

  • data collection for degree projects, papers or projects
  • internship outside Europe*
  • exchange studies

Am I eligible to apply?

The Crafoord Foundation travel grant is available to students of all academic disciplines. 

To be eligible, you must:

  • be registered for full-time studies at Lund University at the time of application and during the semester when the mobility will take place
  • have completed as least 180 credits at the time of departure, including at least 60 credits at Lund University
  • not have begun studying at a third-cycle level
  • have good language proficiency in English

You are not eligible if you:

  • have previously been awarded a travel grant from the Crafoord Foundation
  • are nominated for exchange studies within the Erasmus+ or Nordplus programme
  • have been awarded an internship grant through Erasmus+, Minor Field Studies or Linnaeus Palme for the same study period

Attachments – clinical training, internship, summer courses or exchange studies

Students applying for a grant to conduct clinical training, an internship, a summer course or exchange studies – for a brief or extended period of mobility – are required to submit the following attachments.

NB: All documents included in the application must be in English.
1.    A project description in which you justify what you are going to do abroad and how you will benefit from your experiences (approximately 1 A4)
2.    Three-party agreement or admission decision – read more in the form (PDF 131 kB)
3.    Transcript and certificate of registration from Lund University in a single PDF file
4.    CV (approx. 1 A4 page)
5.    Copy of passport

Attachments - data collection

Students applying for a grant to perform data collection - for a brief or extended period of mobility - are required to submit the following attachments. Read more information about the required attachments (PDF).

NB: All documents included in the application must be in English.
1.    A project description that comprises the aim, central question(s), method, a reflection on the choice of topic, a schedule (that both includes the preparatory work and the realisation in practice), a contingency plan and alternative plan for studies, a reflection on risks and safety aspects and, if applicable, a reflection on ethical aspects and use of sources (max. 5 pages)
2.    Budget showing all planned expenses
3.    Certificate from the supervisor
4.    Letter from the contact person/host organisation
5.    Transcript and certificate of registration from Lund University in a single PDF file
6.    CV
7.    Copy of passport

How will my application be assessed?

The applications will be received by External Relations for an initial review based on the formal requirements.

Grant applications for clinical training, internships, summer courses, and exchange studies are assessed by the relevant faculty and department based on their own selection criteria. The decision is taken by the respective faculties.

Grant applications for data collection (brief and extended mobility) are forwarded to the relevant faculty and department for assessment. The applications are subsequently reviewed by a university-wide assessment committee composed of 4–6 people who will decide which applicants will be awarded a grant. 

Decision

The decision on the award of grants will be sent to all applicants via email in September/October.
