What Sandra says about the Master's in Information Systems
Sandra Engberg from Sweden
"During the Master's in Information Systems, I had the opportunity to develop professional knowledge within the area of IT/IS in order to become highly qualified and attractive to future employers. The programme also provided me with knowledge about both models and data analytics platforms such as Qlik Sense. Most of the courses in the programme take the learning to a more strategic level, and challenge your arguments in diverse subjects. Additionally, the programme offers a mixture of, and a good balance between, individual examinations, group works and case studies.
Since the class is relatively small, you certainly get the chance to interact with the teachers during the classes, which adds to the learning experience. The learning style usually consists of weekly lessons and seminars during the first part of the course, and shifts towards more independent work at the end, both in regards to group works and/or individual examinations. However, I want to stress the fact that all teachers provide support in terms of supervision during the courses and that they genuinely care about the progression of your studies. This results in an open dialogue between the teachers and the students. Moreover, I want to highlight the supervision during the writing process of the Master's thesis – it really took my academic thinking and writing to the next level!
The programme also provided me with a unique opportunity to study in a truly multicultural environment with high diversity among the students, which opened up new perspectives and improved my problem-solving skills. We always managed to improve the final results of the different group works. Most importantly, the mixture of both nationalities and cultures resulted in a personal learning experience, where I had great fun along the way.
When it comes to my next step after finishing the programme, I can proudly announce that my career path will start at Accenture, a multinational consultancy firm. I look forward to developing my experience quickly through the varying and challenging projects I will get as a consultant. Looking back, I learned so much more than just advancing my academic thinking and writing. Being a part of this programme also helped me develop my personal skills and, most importantly, this year brought me a lot of unforgettable memories."
