Xiaolin Bian from China, alumna of the programme
"I graduated from the Photonics Master’s programme at Lund University in 2019 and I am currently working at the Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing. The time I spent in Lund is an unforgettable part of my life.
The programme is designed in a way that allows you to focus on the subjects that fit your career goals. Lectures are neither too challenging nor too easy – if you are a Chinese student with a photonics or optical engineering background, you’ll probably find that most of the lectures are closely related to your previous knowledge. Thanks to the guidance from the professors and the instructive experiments, most of the content is quite easy to comprehend.
Sweden is a unique country in the West, and Lund is a unique place in Sweden. I have never enjoyed such a lavish combination of cultures before. The collision of cultures is mild. It could be described as when black coffee meets milk – you get to blend into new cultures while keeping your own cultural background at the same time.
Lund University offers endless possibilities for everyone. You can choose to be a researcher, do an exchange semester abroad, start your own business, or mingle with entrepreneurs who share your passions. Studying at Lund University is one of the best decisions I have ever made and I will cherish all the memories from Lund for the rest of my life."
