"The hatred of pedophiles isn't about protecting kids" - En kvalitativ textanalys av självidentifierade pedofilers bloggar

The aim of this studie was to examine how self-identified pedophiles describes pedophilia, and it´s linkage to child sexual abuse, on their blogs. There are currenty limited research on self-identified pedophiles, which means that pedophiles outside clinical- and criminal settings are not being represented in the avalible research. Theese individuals are valuable for the research of pedophilia, because they may be able to contribute to the knowledge of what makes some pedophiles sexually abuse children while others do not.
In order to studie self-identified pedophiles perspective on pedophilia and how it is linked to child sexual abuse I performed a qualitative content analysis on a total of five different blogs written by self-identified pedophiles. To get the full content of their perspective on pedophilia I took a inductive approach, where I begun the studie without a theory with the intention of letting the data produce the theory. The result showed that all except one individual described thinking of pedophilia as a sexual orientation instead of a psychiatric disorder, as well as describing the origin of their pedophilia similar to the origin of gender-specific sexual orientations. They also described risk – and protective factors that are similar to the risk- and protective factors for criminality in general rather than specifically to pedophilia and child sexual abuse. In addition to this they also described experiences of stimatization and consequenses of this being a higher risk of offending due to the internalized thoughts that they are evil people, who are doomed to offend sooner or later.
