About the programme and the teaching style
Why did you choose this programme?
"The Master’s in Finance at Lund University is a globally high-ranked programme and it was on my “bucket list” for a long time. Therefore, it was easily my top choice when applying for a Master’s degree."
What do you think about your programme so far? Does it live up to your expectations?
"Yes, the programme lives up to my expectations! With several years of working experience, the programme is a great chance for me to look back and reflect on my professional experience, and learn something new at the same time on the way."
What is the best thing about your programme?
"The best thing to me is the professors. All of the professors in my programme are very knowledgeable, with abundant research in their specific fields. We do not only learn about the theory and foundation of finance but also about the application of such knowledge to real-world scenarios and how the professors have done the research."
What do you think of the teaching style at Lund?
"It’s an open environment where I can ask questions to the professors, teaching assistants and my classmates whenever in doubt. The teaching style gives us the flexibility to learn and develop in our preferred way and, at the same time, develop our teamwork skills."
Why should prospective students choose this programme?
"If you are looking for a diverse program in finance, with a focus on finance theory and financial valuation, and with the use of modern tools like Python, you should definitely apply for the Master’s in Finance at Lund University!"
Have you been able to gain any practical experience during your studies so far?
"During my course, there are many guest lecturers who come, not only to share their knowledge but also their professional working experience and share job opportunities. We also have the chance to do a real valuation case for a course which is very practical."
How international is your programme and what is it like to study in that kind of environment?
"Lund is definitely an international university! In my programme, there are people from all over the world with different nationalities. However, we do not have any trouble in communication. We have the chance to learn about other cultures and their economics."
Thoughts on being an international student at Lund, free time and tips for prospective students
What it is like to be an international student at Lund University?
"To my surprise, I did not have any difficulty living and studying at Lund University, given my zero knowledge of Swedish. I have the opportunity to meet friends from all over the world. I am also given the flexibility to study at my own pace with the help and advice from the professors."
What do you do in your spare time?
"As a Lund Ambassador, I have the chance to join in a variety of activities with other ambassadors from other programmes and from many nationalities. During my spare time, I play badminton at Victoria Stadium with my friends. I also participate in some of the student union LundaEkonomerna’s activities and career fairs. I try to keep myself busy, especially during the winter when the days are shorter."
Do you have any advice for other students that are considering coming to Lund?
"There are certain things you just have to experience for yourself. Be prepared and open, and I believe that you will not regret coming to Lund at all!"
