What Limitha says about the Master's in Embedded Electronics Engineering
Limitha from India
What is your educational background?
I completed my Bachelor’s in Electronics and communications Engineering (BE) in India. I graduated in 2019.
Why did you choose Lund University?
I chose Lund University because it offered the course I wanted to pursue. The course descriptions were exactly in line with what I wanted to study. It is also among the top 100 universities in the world so I knew that the standard of education offered here would be exceptionally high.
What were your expectations before coming to Sweden? Have they been fulfilled? What has surprised you?
I did not have any specific expectations except that people would be friendly, which turned out to be very true. People have been so amiable and accepting which made me feel at home during my time here. The biggest surprise to me was the weather conditions. I knew it would be cold but I did not expect the weather to be quite so unpredictable.
Has the programme met your expectations so far? What is the difference between being a student at LTH (Faulty of Engineering) compared to your previous university studies?
Yes, the programme has met my expectations. It is very well planned and executed and the faculty has been very supportive. The course is designed such that one can choose the courses they like. The major difference is the practical approach offered and the way the exams are held and designed is quite different compared to my previous experiences.
Do you get a lot of practical experience and lab work in the programme?
Yes, there is a lot of practical work in labs. Additionally, there are regular assignments and projects.
Have you had any opportunities for networking within the programme?
Yes, we have had guest lecturers coming from various companies which helps us connect and ask about the opportunities out there. There are also many career fairs held for us to get in touch with companies.
What do you do in your spare time? What is student life in Lund like?
In my spare time, I hang out with friends and visit different places. Lund is a student city with lots of student nations and clubs for one to meet new people and socialize.
Any other thoughts you have that you think could be interesting to people applying for this programme?
I think the programme in itself is very well-developed and structured based on the current cutting-edge technology. The professors are all very well-read and are experienced and most importantly – they are very approachable.
What do you think is the best thing about your programme?
I think the supportive staff is the best thing because we get a lot of help from them throughout the programme.
