What Hundaol says about the Master' in Energy-efficient and Environmental Building Design
Hundaol from Ethiopia
About the programme and the teaching style
Why did you choose Lund University?
"I chose Lund University as it has a good reputation in my field of study. Also, seeing that it is consistently ranked among the top 100 universities globally gave me the confidence to decide."
What do you think of your programme so far?
"EEBD (Energy-efficient and Environmental Building Design) is like a complex puzzle with too many pieces to solve. It can be frustrating at the beginning and along the way there will be ups and downs. But much like solving a complex puzzle, each course and learning experience brings you closer to seeing the bigger picture and it is very rewarding at the end."
What is the best thing about your programme?
"The best thing about my programme is that I get to understand how we can use technology to simulate the results before implementing the project."
How international is your programme?
"My programme is diverse, and it has given me the opportunity to work with different nationalities across the world."
Why should prospective students choose this programme?
"I recommend this for those who are no longer interested in designing an obsolete structure like me. Here, you will understand how to design buildings that are suitable for the well-being of humans and the environment. If you are also interested in achieving the United Nations Sustainability Goals (SDGs), this programme is one way to understand how to achieve one of those goals."
Thoughts on spare time and highlights
What do you do in your spare time?
"In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the city of Lund and its surroundings. Whether it's visiting historical sites, attending cultural events, or simply taking walks in the parks, there's always something to do. I also like to spend time with friends, trying out new restaurants or participating in outdoor activities."
What have been the highlights of your first year in Lund?
"The highlight would be experiencing snow, sun that doesn’t set at 6 or 7pm and winter blues. Coming from a country situated near the equator, I have experienced 12 hours of daylight before, but to see the sun rising and setting at 3am and 4pm was really surprising."
