What Atef says about the Master's in Wireless Communications
Atef from Syria, alumnus of the programme, now working as 5G Baseband Software Developer at Ericsson
Could you describe your work experience since graduation from the Wireless Communication programme?
“Studying the Wireless Communication programme at Lund University paved the way for me to do my Master’s thesis at Ericsson, one of the biggest telecommunication providers in the world, which has an office in Lund. After finishing my thesis, I got the opportunity to continue working at Ericsson, in Lund, as a 5G baseband software developer.
What knowledge and skills acquired through the Wireless Communication programme have you been able to apply in your work?
“The Master’s programme created a solid theoretical base in wireless communications which helped me grasp the work concepts quickly. Furthermore, the course Project in Wireless Communications was very helpful to learn, simulate and understand how a relatively basic telecommunication system works. This knowledge is something I have used a lot, solving my daily tasks at work as a baseband developer, but with a closer look from the hardware perspective. In addition, the programme tackles the telecom sector’s hottest topics such as Massive MIMO and 5G. Lund University has world-leading professors and researches in the wireless communications field – they even set a 5G world record in 2016!”
