In 2022, Lund was named one of two global winners of the WWF's One Planet City Challenge, after competing with 280 cities worldwide.

In addition, Lund was found to be the best performing middle-sized city in Europe in the European Commission's 2019 Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor.
