I denna uppsats undersöks upprepningen funktion i Tom McCarthys roman "Remainder". Detta begrepp analyseras ifrån fyra olika perspektiv: det psykologiska, det stilistiska, det symboliska, och det filosofiska. Som hjälp i denna studie har jag bland annat använt mig av Gilles Deleuzes "Skillnad och upprepning", Friedrich Nietzsches "Så talade Zarathustra", och Sigmund Freuds "Bortom lustprincipen".
