This thesis attempts to clarify how gairaigo is being used in blogs pertaining to the daily life of the blogger. The study was executed by one person who manually counted between 350 and 500 words in each of 12 blogs, where 6 blogs were authored by male bloggers and 6 blogs were authored by female bloggers of varying ages. It was found that while the study is small in scope, it gives indications that males use slightly more gairaigo than females, and that age does not see to have any major correlation to gairaigo usage. Based on the findings and the introduced theory, suggestions for future research were presented.
